This is a measure to fit pattern. Measure yourself if making for yourself and allow 2-3 inches for positive ease, pluse 1 inch for button band overlap. If made for an Object of Your Knitting Affection it is best to have a garment (sweater, sweat shirt, jacket…..) that fits the way they prefer to take measurements from.

It takes anywhere from 20-28 ounces of worsted to make this sweater for a medium woman. You will also need a ball of about 2 ounces of contrasting color if you want to do the stripes. Buy more than you need……feed your stash. Worsted wool makes excellent hats, socks and mittens.
