Kat's Chunky Cabled Gloves
I have seen lovely fingerless gloves and arm-warmers in the shops this year which would make lovely Christmas (or birthday) gifts. So I decided to design a pair that can be made in about one weekend (one glove per evening). I used some microfibre material I had in my stash. The cables really stand out nicely and are very visible despite the dark colour. I usually prefer wool and think this design would look lovely in a lighter colour and a nice fluffy woolly texture.
I wanted nice ribbed edges which make chunky wool look tidy and neat. To achieve this even rib of purl one knit one I knitted all the knit stitches through the back loop. The additional twists even out the knit stitches very well. I also twisted the knitted stitches of the middle cable by knitting them through the back loop, which makes the cable a bit more prominent.
I used a ribbed cast-on and kitchener’s cast-off, but this is not necessary.
This pattern is of intermediate difficulty. You need to be able to knit in the round and make cables. Apart from that it is a very straightforward piece of work. Charts are included.
The PDF link for this pattern will be available once I have been acknowledged as a designer for Ravelry.
