La Sarita
La Sarita is a crescent shaped shawlette that can also be shaped more circular to help it stay on your shoulders.
It is knit from the bottom up with an easy to learn lace pattern. One Estonian stitch is used for texture with the rest of the stitches being very easily learned.
The eyelet section is uniquely done and very easy to knit.
This shawl can be worn to dress up or can be a casual addition to blue jeans.
1/1/2024, While the short row section works as written the final result is more of a narrow shawlette/scarf than I intended. If you want a deeper body, work the short row after the marker as Knit 1 (picking up wrapped loop and knitting together with this stitch, as one stitch), SSK, wrap and turn, then the purl return as Purl 1 ( picking up wrapped loop and purling together with this stitch as one stitch) then Purl 2 together, wrap and turn.

I have been told that the link in the pattern to the video for the border is not working. It looks like youtube has changed the link. Here it is.

I have found a bead placement that I like better than the one on the pattern. I think the bead lays a bit more prominently and does not slide under the stitches as much. The bead continues to be on the DDC but it is placed before the stitch is knitted.
On the resting rows of the Edging Chart, (Rows 2,4, and 6 except for the last repeat of Row 6) place the beads as follows:
On the 12th stitch and every 13th stitch after that. There will be 11 stitches after the last bead is placed. When you do the DDC (this is important or the bead is not placed correctly) the beaded stitch will be the 2nd slipped stitch. The beads will be directly above the bead in the previous rows.
Notes on blocking:
There may be a bit of roll in the edge of the bind off but when blocked it should fix the roll. The bind off is firm enough that blocking the shawl in an almost circle shape that you do not need to pin the bind of edge. I pinned out the two ends so that they were parallel to each other then started pinning out the points. I did pin the bound off edge for a few inches on each side of the ends but once the shape started to hold I removed the pins.

Directions for La Sarita using chart should read
“Knit Chart rows 1-6 once, then repeat rows 3-6 three times more. Continue with border chart.” not rows 2-6.

I updated the pattern with directions on swatching with the pattern stitches. Revisions 1.2 and 1.3 have all errata corrected to date.
Errata:
8-8-2012
Size 8 / 5.0mm needles
On the body, do repeats until you have one stitch left, then knit garter rows.
8-4-2012
Row 3 of Edging chart directions should read 34 repeats not 33.
Row 4 of Edging should have a K2 at both the beginning and end of the row.
Directions for i-cord bind off should read “I cord bind off, knit 2 knit 2 together. Return these 3 stitches back to left hand needle. repeat until no stitches remain on needles.” previously it had said to keep the stitches on right hand needles.
With size 8 needles cast on 452 stitches very loosely as this is the bottom of the shawl. (or use the size 6 if you cast on loosely) Switch to size 6 needles for the rest of the pattern.
At the bottom of page three Row 26 should read “Row 26 is K2, P to last two stitches, K2”

I forgot a legend for the Written Instructions:
YO - Yarn Over
K - Knit
P - Purl
Two from Two - Knit in front and back of two stitches as if to knit two together
DDC - Slip two stitches, knit 1 pass slipped stitches over the knitted stitch
K2togTBLO - insert needle into back of two stitches as if to knit 2 together through back loop, wrap yarn around needle twice pull through the stitch.
SSK- slip one stitch, knit next stitch, slide the left-hand needle into the front part of both stitches and knit them together or slip the first stitch as if to knit, slip the second stitch as if to knit, then slide the left-hand needle into the front part of both stitches and knit them together.
