“La Vie de Bois” is a common saying here in Northern Maine. It means, “That’s life in the woods,” and is usually said with a shrug and a grin by anyone who lives or works in the great North Maine Woods. There’s no predicting what life here will bring from day to day, and honestly? We prefer it that way. These socks are a tribute to the saying and the woods that inspired it.

These socks are knit toe-up with a heel flap. Both written instructions and charts are included. It is written for one size (women’s medium) but the size is easily alterable by adding or subtracting purl stitches. Most of the sock model photos are on the last page of the pattern so you can choose whether or not you’d like to print them. The lace is easy, but basic understanding of lace stitches (k2tog, YO, ssk, etc.) is helpful.
