Land Girl Socks
These socks use several simple Fair Isle designs which add up to a complex appearance. However, no pattern is more than nine lines long and they are quite easy to knit. Only two colours are used in any row.
The yarn is dyed with the natural dyes which would have been used in the Shetlands when Fair Isle knitting evolved. They include madder, weld and natural indigo. The result is an authentic pair of vintage-style socks which are warm and very comfortable because of the double layer of yarn used to create the Fair Isle patterning.
The kit is available from Renaissance Dyeing.
