Late Hours Shawl
The shawl is a triangle worked from the top down. It is available in three sizes (S, M and L) with suggested yarn amounts and measurements in fingering, sport, DK and worsted yarn weight. Any yarn that can be blocked is suitable for this project. The shawl was knit from silk, linen, wool and wool mixes with good results. Solids and semi-solids are the best for this shawl as variegated yarn would obscure the stitch pattern.
The pattern contains charts and line-by-line written instructions.
Stitch counts for each row are listed; the pattern also includes detailed blocking instructions. For working a square shawl see Nuiknitting’s project.
Hungarian version is available via www.barkafonal.hu (charted instructions only).

The pattern was tech edited by cmuralidhara and test-knit by 9 knitters to whom I am greatly thankful for helping to perfect the pattern. Some quotes from the test knitters:
“Definitely something you could do as your first lace, if you have a little patience - the end result will make you want to do lace forever!” ZarahMaria
“…pattern is well written, better written than many patterns I’ve purchased…” getknitty
“Very clear and straightforward pattern and I appreciate that it can be made in an assortment of sizes.” Robink
“I have to confess I tend to rely on written instructions versus charted but had no problems making use of yours.” SovereignCrux

Why this name?
The stitch pattern of the shawl resembles thick candles burning. They go shorter and shorter while talking with friends over a glass of wine or a cup of tea. When the hours get late some extra layer in silk or soft merino will keep you cozy and warm. If you wear the shawl to the office next morning, the pleasant memories of the previous evening will brighten up your sleepy day.
