When I took Knitting 101 at a local yarn store, the class project was a hat. When my sister asked for a knitting lesson, my first thought was of that hat pattern, but the class hand out was long gone. Thus, this hat pattern was born. This is ideal for the beginner: learn how to cast on, then practice the knit stitch for a few rows, learn how to purl, and finally finish with some simple decreases and a seam.
