Leaves & Soda
I remember that, when we were kids, one way of keeping us out of mischief was to let us make skeleton leaves by soaking them in baking soda. Our parents used to make the soda mix and boil the leaves and, when they thought the right point was reached, they used to give us a soft brush to work on them until we could see their veins. Then we used to dry them out between sheets of newspaper and use them to make collages. It is from this childhood memory that the inspiration arose for this shawl. It imitates a collage of skeleton leaves like the ones I used to make as a little girl.
