This detailed amigurumi lion pattern contains 12 pages of step by step instructions and 24 progress pictures (plus several more pictures of the completed plushie) to help you along the way.

My goal is always to create patterns with as little sewing as I know how to. This guy’s limbs are crocheted into the body, the head is made continuous to the body, and the mane is surface crocheted. That means the only sewing needed is for the ears, tail, and snout!

The mane is designed to be as quick and easy to work up as possible. There are 12 images, and clear step by step instructions to help you along the way when making it.

My lion was made with Bernat Velvet, a #5 bulky yarn, and a 6mm crochet hook. Going from the foot to the ear, the finished piece measures at 11.5 inches.

This pattern is advanced beginner friendly. While surface crochet, color changes, and the technique of crocheting limbs into the body are used, the concepts are explained within the pattern. If you’re a beginner and are confused about any aspects of the pattern, please reach out to me!
