The cowl came before the name. I knit the cowl and pondered. Grid? Squares? Blocks! I immediately thought of the Lister Block, a historic building in downtown Hamilton, Ontario. It was one of the first commercial office/retail buildings in Hamilton, built in 1886. After a fire destroyed the original building in 1923, the building pictured was erected in 1924. It was in use until the mid- 90s, and has been empty since. Currently undergoing major restoration work, I hope to see it in use again sometime soon.
