Little Swedish Dress
An Ode To Sweden
If you’re a fan of Scandiwork , you know we are obsessed with Scandinavia. It’s one part heritage, one part enduring love for blue skies, mountains, streams, flower crowns, clean design, family traditions, outdoor living,
folk art, lingonberries, Swedish pancakes, rhubarb, and pastry.
This festive little dress is filled with dala horses, viking ships, mora clocks, teapots, windmills, forest mushrooms, and more. It features an empire waist and a slightly bell-shaped skirt. Because of the nature of the motif, each of the five sizes has its own custom chart, all included with the pattern purchase. Sample photos show a size three dress.
The dress is knit bottom up, starting with larger needles and the knit with smaller needles to give the dress it’s subtle bell shape. There is a dramatic decrease at the top of the skirt and then the bodice is worked back and forth. To shape the armholes, the work is split and the front and the back are worked flat separately. The top of the shoulders are joined with a 3-needle bind off. The armholes, neckline, and buttonhole are all finished with a single crochet chain.
