In fall and winter, you can never have too many classic cardigans in your wardrobe! This blends beautiful cables with DK wool for lasting wear.

In my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, Locke Street is one of my favourite places to spend time. A modest street bordering the downtown core, here you might indulge your time shopping for books or handcrafted collectibles, munching on delicious cupcakes or hamburgers, or simply strolling and enjoying the day outside.

This sweater is designed with these same classic urban comforts in mind – it is an easy-to-wear cardigan that lends both comfort and style whether you are at the café, relaxing at home, or out and about in the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a sweater you will be reaching for, for many years to come.

Worked in pieces and then seamed, the Locke Street cardigan is finished with a ribbed button-band and modest shawl collar. Choose from the many beautiful shades of Tanis Fiber Arts Yellow Label DK, or substitute your favourite DK-weight yarn for 5.5 sts/inch.

Instructions contain tips on working cables without a cable needle, and working directional m1 increases.

Materials
• Tanis Fiber Arts Yellow Label DK 100% superwash merino; 260yds/ 238m per 4.5 oz/115g skein 6(7, 7, 8, 9, 9) skeins. Shown in ‘garnet’
• 4.0mm/US #6 needles (either straight, or 24-32” circular for working flat.)
• 3.5mm/US #4 needles (lengths as above)
• 3.5mm/US #4 needle 36-40” for working buttonband and collar
• Stitch markers (at least 5)
• Tapestry needle
• Cable needle (unless working cables without a cable needle)

Sizing
S(M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL)
Garment measures approximately 35(38, 41, 44, 48, 51, 55) inches around at bust, when closed.

Garment is intended to be worn with 2-4 ins of positive ease (i.e. slightly loose).

Gauge
22 sts/28 rows over 4 inches, on 4.0mm/US 6 needles OR needle size required to obtain gauge.

Take time to save time - For best results, knit a gauge swatch and wash and dry swatch according to yarn label instructions before obtaining a gauge measurement.

Skills
To execute this pattern, knitters will be required to:
• Work knit and purl stitches
• Work increases and decreases
• Work seams and grafting
• Execute cable twists, with or without a cable needle
• Pick up stitches to work buttonband and collar
