Lotus Eater Pullover
If you’ve been curious to try my fluid sizing model but feel a bit intimidated about customizing your pattern, this is a great place to start. You’ll get to dip a toe in customizing your pattern to your body. This design is suitable for an adventurous beginner who knows are comfortable with all the skills in the “Techniques” section.
This design is worked from side to side. You will cast on at the first sleeve and work in the round. Increases make up the bodice length and create a nice dolman shape sleeve. At the bodice, you will switch to turned rows. Simple shaping creates an easy neck. At the second sleeve, work is resumed in the round and decreased until the end. Ribbing is added to the bottom of the bodice to keep the top from riding up. Add a little neckline ribbing around the opening and you’re all finished!
Sizes: Any size human!
Yarn: Any weight of yarn. See “Formula” file for estimate of yardage. This design is suitable for any yarn content that is comfortable to wear against your skin.
Sample shown in Sock Obsession Yarns superwash merino (Aran weight) in the colorway Bioluminescence.
Needles: Two circular needles with a long (40”/100 cm) cable, referred to as “bigger” and “smaller”. Use whatever needle size you need to get the fabric density you desire. See “Getting Started” on page 2 for more details.
Sample uses size US 11/8 mm for gauge and size US 10.5/6.5 mm for ribbing.
Gauge: Whatever gauge is needed to get your desired fabric characteristics. See “Getting Started” on page 2 for more details.
Techniques: Knitting in the round, basic increases and decreases, central double decrease through the back loops (https://youtu.be/c3ZfX7kHgvE ; only used on v-neck), casting on in the middle of a row, picking up stitches, and wet blocking.
Notions: Beginning of the round marker (if desired), 1 locking stitch marker, blocking mat, t-pins, and blocking wires (optional).
