Matroesjka’s zijn traditionele, van oorsprong Russische houten poppetjes. De naam komt van het Latijnse woord “matrona”, wat moeder betekent. Daarom past deze naam heel goed bij het idee van in elkaar gestapelde poppetjes binnen één grote moederpop. Het wordt als symbool van vruchtbaarheid, eeuwigheid en groei gezien. Ook staat ze voor geborgenheid, liefde en bescherming. Elke nieuwe pop heeft een eigen verhaal.

Matryoshka’s are traditional wooden dolls of Russian origin. The name comes from the Latin word “matrona” which means mother. Therefore this name fits very well with the idea of dolls stacked together inside a large motherdoll. It is a symbol of fertility, eternity and seen growth. Also she is for security, love and protection. Each new doll has its own story.
