Mom's Checkerboard Slippers
This pattern is a variation of an OLD pattern that has been out there for many years. It has a little different construction, and was taught to my mother by an English lady friend of hers in the 1960’s. I’ve never been able to find exactly the pattern she used anywhere, so I wrote it out. It requires 2 contrasting colors, and one skein of each should make a pair with plenty left over!
The instructions include pictures, and some tips to keep your yarn from tangling during the knitting process. I would also suggest a mildly loose tension while knitting, as too tight a tension makes them a bit difficult to knit.
This pattern is very cushy and stretchy. I have also used size 8 needles, (mostly for toddler sizes) so it is very easy to customize your size.
