Mr. Pumpkinhead and Crackerjack
This is an original crochet pattern for a raggedy-type pumpkin-headed character doll in the primitive style. Mr. Pumpkinhead is dressed in patched knickers with suspenders, and funky lace-up boots with striped socks. His friend, Crackerjack the Crow, sits on his shoulder as they watch the world go by together. Aren’t they a riot?
The pattern makes a 13 inch doll when you use DK weight yarn with a C (2.75mm) hook. The crow is 2 inches tall when made with size 10 crochet thread and a size 7 hook. You may vary the size of the doll by changing the size of hooks and thread that you use to crochet them.
This cute duo was designed with lots of fun detail. They’re not hard to make, and the pattern is clearly written. The booklet has 22 pages of instructions and color photos.
Materials and Supplies:
MR PUMPKINHEAD DOLL:

• Size C (2.5 – 2.75mm) crochet hook
• Two 9-mm black plastic eyes
• Two ½“ (12mm) doll buttons, lime green or color of choice

• 5” doll needle
• Small sharp scissors
• Small Hemostat or tweezers to help with stuffing small pieces
CRACKER JACK THE CROW:
• Size 10 crochet thread – Black (50 yds), dark yellow (25 yds)
• Size 7 crochet hook (1.65mm)
• Sewing needle that will accommodate size 10 crochet thread
• Black embroidery thread
GAGE: Gage is not important as long as the same size thread and hook are used for all the pattern pieces. However, since tension can vary in different circumstances, it is suggested that when making two pieces that must be the same, such as arms and legs, that you complete both in one sitting.
