Mulled Cider
Mulled Cider is a classic sweater coat, designed to showcase a rustic, tweedy yarn. It’s based on a classic toggle coat, but with a little detail added into the mix.
The classic design makes it a great wardrobe staple, and it’s wonderful pattern for any number of great tweeds and rustic yarns out there.
A stem and leaf motif on the front and back meets at the shoulder, and ribbing stands out beautifully against a reverse stockinette background. The deep, notched collar brings the attention upwards, and twisted toggles that fasten around large, off-the-band buttons hold things closed. It’s meant to hit at the hip, and a gradual A line adds a flattering shape to the coat so the upper body is more fitted.
Some easy modifications are noted throughout the pattern: Length can be adjusted by simply working more or less before the armholes. Additional shaping can be created by adjusting your toggle lengths during finishing, and the collar can also be modified to be less or more prominent, depending on your taste.

Yarn used was Bartletttyarns Inc Glen Tweeds, 2ply (100% wool, 210yds/192m per 4oz/113g skein) Color is no longer available. If substituting yarn, I suggest a heavy worsted or aran weight tweed, in a rustic wool that will work well as an outer layer and not drape or pill over time.
