Called kelliemuffs in old Shetland dialect, fingerless mittens are ideal for excursions on cool, but not quite cold, fall days. For the mitts shown here, SpillyJane (also known as Jane Dupuis) incorporated an appealing mushroom motif between small peerie bands, all in lovely autumn colors. The simple construction in these small mitts makes them a nice introduction to stranded knitting. There’s no thumb gusset to interrupt the pattern, and the small motifs are repeated throughout. You’ll be out hunting mushrooms in style and comfort in no time!
