My Little Slug
My Little Slug is a pattern for knitting your very own custom slug, for those days when no one will buy you a pony. Knit them in a variety of body sizes with 6 or 8 symmetrical legs. The smallest size makes a great xmas ornament (and takes me less than 2 hours to make)! Decorate your slug with single or multiple eyes, add a mouth to emulate an octopus, or add antennas and accessories! Attach a rare earth magnet and have your slug stick to you everywhere you go!
Pattern is worked top down in the round in one piece and you can hide all the tails inside the body! Familiarity with short rows is a must (Check out TECHKnitter’s Short Rows tutorial for a refresher). Any weight of yarn works, but lighter than heavy fingering is a bit masochistic. Feltable wool yarn would be more fun. Pattern does not include needle felting tutorials or instructions for making accessories. Pattern is 4 pages long.
Samples shown in Cascade Yarns 220 Wool, 100% Wool, 200 m/100 g, 220 yd/3.5 oz, colours 8910 (green) and 2436 (orange). One skein should make at least 3 medium size slugs.
With thanks to tabi for tech editing and test knitting, and to furrricane for the ladder photography.
