Nativity Mice
This pattern is for the Mary & Joseph mice and their outfits, the baby mouse, manger, blanket and star.
The pattern contains lots of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in English, using American crochet terms. All of my patterns have been independently tested prior to publication.
You will need:
Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Stylecraft Special Aran yarn for this project (equivalent to light worsted weight) and my finished mice measure approximately 10cm tall. Please ensure that you use the same weight yarn to make both your mice and the clothing to ensure that the pieces will fit.
For the 2 larger mice you will need the following colours:
- Main mouse colour - I used pale grey (approx. 23.5m per mouse).
- Nose / ears / feet / tail - I used pale pink (approx. 13m per mouse).
For the baby mouse you will need the following colours:
- Main mouse colour - I used pale grey (approx. 5.5m ).
- Nose / ears / feet / tail - I used pale pink (approx. 3m).
For all the other nativity outfits and accessories you will need the following colours:
- Cream (approx. 20m).
- Blue (approx. 10.5m).
- Dark Brown (approx. 9.5m).
- Light Brown (approx. 11m).
- Gold (approx. 11.5m).
- Dark Green (approx. 8m).
- Light Green (approx. 22.5m).
- Black (approx. 18m).
Please note - The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.
You will also need:
- A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.
- 2 pairs of 6mm black safety eyes.
- Some toy stuffing.
- Some finer black yarn or thread for adding the details to the faces.
- A small amount of ‘7 count’ plastic canvas to go inside the stand for the star. You may be able to use other craft supplies such as cardboard and pipe cleaners if you don’t have any plastic.
- Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and some stitch markers.
You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself.
Thank you.
