Nepeta Leijon’s hat is awesome, no question about it. But hunting and skinning some wild Alternian beast to make one is a lot of work, and probably has a negative impact on the ecosystem. Thankfully, there’s a better way to make this
hat your own, right from the comfort of your own cave. (Note: Wolverine claws and Apex Predator Mode not included.)

Materials:
• 200m medium blue sport-weight yarn (I used Zeeman Supersoft, color 60)
• Scrap yarn: 2m of white sport-weight yarn (I used Zeeman Supersoft)
• Scrap yarn: 10m of red, orange, and yellow bulky-weight yarn (I used Universal Yarn Uptown Bulky in Race Car Red, Pumpkin, and Bright Yellow)
• 4mm/G crochet hook
• 5mm/H crochet hook
• Yarn needle, with eye big enough for bulky yarn

Gauge: about 4 dc/in for an adult medium(?), with sport-weight yarn and 4mm/G hook. One size fits most. Probably.

Note: The notation gets a little weird towards the end of the hat, because you switch from working in the round to
working two separate flat portions, to give the cat-mouth shaping on the bottom of the hat. It’ll make more sense when you get there, though, I promise.

Additional note: This is the first pattern I’ve ever uploaded to Ravelry, and I typed it up after the fact rather than as I was making it, so it’s entirely possible that there are some inconsistencies. However, it’s generally a pretty forgiving pattern, so a couple of stitch counts being off here and there will probably be no big deal as long as the general shape is there and everything’s symmetrical and whatnot. If by some chance something goes horribly, horribly wrong with the instructions, feel free to message me through Ravelry and I’ll see what I can do! (Or if you really like the pattern and are now making one for every single one of your Homestuck friends. I’m definitely open to that kind of feedback as well.)
