New Oaklet Shawl
My free pattern, the Oaklet Shawl, pattern has been so popular that it inspired me to make a guide to making top-down triangular shawls. They have become one of my favourite types of knitting projects; I mean, who doesn’t love a knitting pattern that starts with “cast on 3 stitches”?
Due to the popularity of Oaklet and the enthusiastic questions I’ve received about how to knit top-down triangular shawls, I made a 16 page booklet that walks you through all of the ins and outs of triangular shawls.
In the booklet, you’ll receive 2 patterns
- Garter Stitch Ridge Shawl
- New Oaklet Shawl
The New Oaklet Shawl pattern in the booklet is a larger and slightly more sophisticated cousin of the original Oaklet.
You’ll also receive illustrated step by step instructions:
- starting with or without a garter stitch tab
- how to make a garter stitch tab provisional cast on
- how to read a knitting chart
- shaping a top down shawl
- working a stretchy bind off
- how to calculate yarn requirements
- charts to designing your own shawl
- how to wet blocking
The finished New Oaklet Shawl measures 46” wide by 23” tall (117 cm by 58 cm)
