NIFTY balaclava

Nifty is an openable balaclava which a new mother noticed to lack during the cold season. A separate frontal flap makes it possible to dress or remove the balaclava without much disturbance to the child when transitions between cold and warm places are needed. It is also possible to enlarge the hat by buttoning the frontal flap lower so that the balaclava can still be used when the child grows.

Yarn: Drops Baby merino or Drops Baby alpaca silk (NB hand wash) or similar, 50 (100)g + 10 small buttons
Gauge: 10 cm = 45 s (in k3, p3 rib) and 44 rows
Needles: 3.0 mm circular needle
Sizes: 0–6 (6–12) months (approximately)
