No Parking!
No Parking! is an easy stranded sock pattern with an all over, mirror-image graphic design and a no-wrap short row heel. Lots of stitch markers help those new to short rows keep track of where they are at while working back and forth on the heel. More experienced knitters may opt to work the heel without the stitch markers.
The all over diagonal patterning on these cuff down socks allows for lots of creativity on your part. Choose two solid color yarns or have fun by choosing a colorful variegated or self-striping yarn for your background (CC) color and a high-contrast solid yarn for the diagonal stripes (MC) so the design pops off of the background. You may even decide to knit the cuff, heels and toes in a third color which would make a fun pair of candy cane stripped socks for Christmas!
The pattern gives mirror image charts in 3 sizes. For ease of reading, each chart is on its own page. When printing the pattern, you may wish to specify the proper page number(s) you will need to avoid unnecessary printing.
- Yarn: Fingering wt. sock yarn; approximately 240 yds for MC and 135 yds for CC. The grey and yellow socks used Cascade Yarns Heritage Solids & Quatro Colors in Charcoal (MC) and Gold (CC). The aqua and pink socks used Knit Picks Stroll Solids, Heathers & Twists in Rouge (MC) and Knit Picks Felici self-striping yarn in Splash (CC).
- Needles & Gauge: US 1 (2.25mm) : Gauge = 9 sts per inch in stranded pattern
- Notions: Stitch markers; Tapestry needle
- Sizing: Small (Medium, Large) will stretch to comfortable fit a leg circumference of approx. 8 ½” (9 ½”, 10 ½”).
