One Piece Asymmetrical Vest
I really like no-seam construction and love adding shaping to garments using short-rows so teamed these techniques up in a vest that is knitted starting on the left front, uses short-row shaping to define the waist in the front on both sides and the middle of the back. It also has an asymmetrical front for added interest. It is knit in garter stitch with a seed stitch edging around the sides, bottom and top.
I used Naturally Aran for my test knit--this produced a really warm, bulky vest--it was knitted by my test knitters Susan and Lana in totally different yarns and turned out beautifully (I promise, more pictures later). I think the yarn I used may be discontinued but many yarns would work--you can adjust the size easily by continuing to knit where there is no shaping. You can also try this on as you go to make sure you’re getting a good fit.
I’ve added some pictures (modelled by the lovely and talented @needlemama -- I did make a change to the pattern after I made the original and that was to add additional shaping to the left front to close up the front more.
