I have a video on my YouTube channel where I talk all about this design, check it out here!
I own a store bought cardigan that I have a real love/hate relationship with. I love the shape and style of it, I love that I reach for it all the time and that it goes with everything, but I hate that it pills and falls off my shoulders and I especially hate that every time I wear it someone asks me what pattern it is and I have to explain that it’s store bought. Nothing against store bought sweaters, we all have them! But the look of utter disappointment on people’s faces when I tell them that is more than I can bear. So, I did what any sane knitwear designer would do and I took the ready to wear cardigan as a jumping off point, kept the features I liked, got rid of the features I hated, and created my ultimate cozy cardigan pattern! Now I can proudly share my favourite cardigan pattern with everyone who asks.
Sizes
35 (40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70)” / 89 (101.5, 114.5, 127, 139.5, 152.5, 165, 178) cm at chest. Cardigan does not close. Size is based on 2 x width of back.
I recommend 8-12” of positive ease for this design. Sweater sizes given are the actual finished measurement of the sweater. Choose the finished size you would like. In the pattern photos I am wearing a size that includes 10” of positive ease on me, that is to say, the finished measurement is 10” larger than my actual chest measurement.
Gauge
20 stitches and 24 rows = 4” square in broken rib on larger needle, knit flat, measured after blocking. Gauge will change significantly with blocking, make sure to block your swatch!
