This pattern began as a nod to writer Malcolm Gladwell. The Outlier Toque is a slouchy style beanie/toque. It is the perfect pattern for a beginner who is making their first hat, and for novices and advanced crocheters looking for a quick, simple project for gifts. I have already decided this is going to be my “go to” hat pattern for the holidays. It looks stunning in self-striping yarn but also looks magnificent in solid colors.

I have a fondness for this pattern and decided to shop my stash and see how it worked up in different weights. As a result I have created a version of the Outlier Slouchy Toque in DK, worsted and bulky weights in addition to the original in fingering weight (The Outlier Toque). This is the DK version.
