Paper Hearts
‘Paper Hearts’ is inspired by the little heart-shaped baskets I made as a kid - we would weave them from coloured paper, fill them with sweets and hang them from the Christmas tree. The hearts encircling this hat are outlined with simple mini-cables, and filled with a knit-purl texture to create the woven look.
Skills needed include knitting in the round, knit, purl, basic decreases, and 2-stitch cables. Five sizes are included, from Baby to Adult Large.
Materials: 95-220 yards / 90-200 metres of sock or fingering-weight yarn. One 50g ball of Skeinz Merino Soft 4ply will be enough for any size except the Adult Large (which will require two balls). Choose a smooth, bouncy yarn for a nicely defined texture.
Sizing: Baby (Toddler, Kid/Teen, Adult Small, Adult Large)
To fit head circumference: 16”/40.5cm (18”/45.5cm, 20”/50.5cm, 22”/56cm, 24”/61cm), with 0-2”/0-5cm negative ease.
Yards/meters required: 95yds/90m (125yds/115m, 140yds/130m, 175yds/160m, 220yds/200m)
Both charted and written instructions are included.
Pattern is for personal use only.
