The Peacock Jewel Mohair Wrap was designed as a gift for a friend who is going through a difficult time. It is meant to be a warm, comforting hug in fabric form. Because I have no desire to profit from her tragedy, I am pleased to offer this pattern as a free download.

Skill Level: Intermediate. A quick and easy center panel of stockinette stitch with garter stitch borders is worked first. Stitches are picked up at each short end and the deep lace border is worked sideways. There is no sewing necessary.

Yarns shown are Rowan Kidsilk Haze (70% super kid mohair, 30% silk), 229 yd (210 m) / skein, 2 skeins of
colorways 585 (Black) and Karabella Lace Mohair (61% Superkid Mohair, 31% Poly, 8% Wool), 540 yd (494 m), 1 skein of colorway 3218 (Turquoise). The wrap could be made using any laceweight mohair yarn(s), about 460 yards (420 m) each of two contrasting colors.

Errata (Oct. 5, 2011) In the lace border pattern written instructions, Row 12 should read: “Row 12: BO3, K10, P4, K2, yo, K2tog, K2tog with edge st.” The chart is correct.
