Peripatetic Knitter's Bag
“Peripatetic” is just a fun word for “Walks around a lot”. If that describes you when you knit, this is the knitting accessory for you! Button it to some handy strap-like part of your clothing, and you can walk and knit with confidence that your yarn will stick with you, rather than straying like a puppy on a leash.
The pattern includes Verbose and Super-Brief versions, so it should suit both those who want to be talked through things and those who want the designer to cut to the chase. It should work with any yarn of appropriate weight that is cooperative about being manipulated (cable yarn- good, single ply- not so much).
This bag is primarily knitted to a gauge of about 3 spi, with the ribbing and strap knitted on a needle two sizes smaller than that needed to get gauge. It is knitted in the round, except for the strap at the end, and is an ideal candidate for Magic Loop. This is an excellent “warmup” project for someone who wants to learn to use a new technique for circular knitting or who wants to move on to socks.
You will need a fairly large button (an inch or larger), and a darning needle that can go through the button’s holes.
