These were thought up when I realized that I preferred my socks to be ankle length no matter what they were made of. So to make them prettier I added a picot edge, although this can be replaced by a 2x2 or a 3x3 rib for a different look. They will ride just below the ankle and can look great with a pair of heels to match.

December 3, 2011: It was brought to my attention that the toe instructions are a little vague. On rows 1 and 3 the instructions should read:
Round 1: (pm if desired,) k1, k2tog, k 30 sts, ssk, k1, (pm if desired,) k1, k2tog, k 30 sts, ssk, k1.
Round 3 and following odd rows: (k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts before marker, ssk, k1).
I hope that helps anyone new to sock knitting.
