This is a simple design that used all knit and purl stitches. The resulting pattern is knitted columns with purled ladders in between.

The pattern is written cuff-down. The “small” refers to the circumference of the ankle, but by adding one more pattern repeat you can easily make a medium size. The foot size is determined as you knit the foot.
