Pinnet is a girl’s tunic-length shirt perfect for those warm spring days, or layered with a long-sleeved shirt underneath it in the winter.

Work Pinnet in a drapey linen or cotton blend yarn to keep her cool, or use wool for cooler days. Picots along the hem and sleeves add just a touch of girlishness and a garter stitch yoke is classic and easy to knit.

This is an intermediate pattern, due to the picot bind off. I do give written instructions in the pattern on how to do this bind off and I’m working on a YouTube video to demonstrate the technique. Other stitches used are mfb and yo.

Yarn:
Fingering weight wool, linen or cotton blend yarn. Approximately 200, 200, 250 (305, 350, 450, 540) yards total.

Colors can be done as you wish.
~The instructions explain how to make a tunic with the color changes shown in the first picture on a child model: a brown variegated and turquoise size 6 version done with approximately 230 yards of variegated and 120 yards of turquoise fingering weight wool.
~The rainbow fade tunic pictured on a model with the turquoise/brown tunic was done using mini skeins, switching as each skein ran out.
~The grey/pink tunic shown laying flat was created by alternating the two colors along the body of the tunic, doubling rows every time. A 1-row stripe of each color, then 2-row stripes of each, then 4-row stripes of each, then 8-row stripes…you get the idea!
