Exact gauge is not essential.

Shawl is worked in Half-double crochet. After 2½ skeins have been used up, use the remaining yarn for fringe (3-9 inches long).

Because of the texture of Homespun, the fringe will fray when cut. If you prefer a non-frayed look you can knot the ends, knit or crochet a fringe, or use hairspray or Fray CheckTM by Dritz®.

Because crochet uses more yarn than knit, a crochet shawl will be a bit smaller than a knit one made with the same number of yarn skeins. To make a larger one, start with a longer chain and use an additional skein.

Ed. tip: After you have worked about two skeins, cut the fringe. Then you can safely use all the remaining yarn to complete the project.
