With my gauge the pattern was about 21 inches in circumference. Add or subtract in multiples of 4 inorder to increase or decrease size.

Feel free to make the body of the hat longer or short depending on how tight you want the body to be (slouchy? not slouchy?).

Also if you want a looser fit above the ribbing, swap up the needles size when to switch out of the ribbing.
