In December 2016, still reeling from the WTF of November, we got the word to get knitting. We were on a mission to create a sea of pink. In our house, that meant going through all the pink yarn we already had. After using the worsted weight we (my mother and I) could find, we switched to finish off the bulky.

I’ve done my googling, I know there are other bulky pussy hat patterns out there. But hey, I’ve made a couple hundred at this point and after fiddling around a whole lot I’d like to think I’ve learned some things worth sharing. The large gauge of this pattern means proficient knitters can bust it out in about an hour. The kitchener stitch finishing may seem challenging for beginners, but you… you can do it! I have included a link to a video tutorial. For some reason this was particularly empowering for me to learn, and if I can do it so can you!

If you know you have a slightly smaller than average head, I recommend using the slightly smaller pattern in parentheses.
