Pattern Notes:

• As the colourwork pattern is directional this cowl is knit from the bottom up. Please bear this in mind when deciding the order in which you wish to use your mini skeins.

• You can choose to knit this pattern with a main background colour and a set of mini skeins as shown in the pattern sample. Alternatively you can use a tonal colour background skein along with a variegated/self striping/speckled contrast colour for the mushroom pattern instead of mini skeins.

• For the sample cowl, I used the contrast colours for the ribbing at the bottom and top of the cowl. So when knitting the colourwork I used the first and last colour for one full repeat of the pattern. The other 4 colours I used to knit 1.5 repeats of the chart before changing colours.

This looks like this:

  • Colour A – Bottom ribbing and 1 colourwork repeat.
  • Colour B – 1.5 colourwork repeats
  • Colour C – 1.5 colourwork repeats
  • Colour D – 1.5 colourwork repeats
  • Colour E – 1.5 colourwork repeats
  • Colour F – 1 colourwork repeat and Top ribbing.
