This is a machine knit pattern for a standard gauge machine with a ribber. It is possible to make the hat without a ribber if you want to reformat stitches or hand knit the ribbing.

I made this cheery hat to sell, then just couldn’t let it go. I wore it most of last winter and always received nice comments on it. I even had a total stranger at Wal-Mart ask me to make her one.

Trenzado yarn is no longer readily available, other than my stash of course. But any fingering weight yarn that will give you about 7 SPI will do.

The decreases at the top are simple and can be done with a single or adjustable transfer tool. The resulting channels add eye appeal.

Pom-pom is optional, of course. Either sew it on with the tails or omit it.
