I designed this to cover a tin can, but it could be used with a glass jar of similar size. The can or jar can then be used as a vase or desk tidy or anything else you can think of. I wanted to cover a 400 ml bean can, but with a simple adjustment to the pattern (the Fair Isle pattern repeats every 4 stitches) it can be made to fit whatever size you like.
I knitted this in the round on a circular needle using a Magic Loop. But you could easily knit this flat and sew up the seam.
Yarn used: Briggs and Little Regal 2 ply in Red, Light Grey and Washed White. These come in skeins of 113 g each but I used only a fraction of this.

Tension: 16 st x 24 rows on 5mm needles.
5 mm circular needle
With Main Colour, cast on 44 stitches (I used a Long-Tail (Continental) Cast on). Join beginning and end of round, being careful not to twist the stitches, and set up a Magic Loop with your circular needle.
Rounds 1 to 3: K1, P1 moss stitch.
Rounds 4 to 8: Change to st st.
Rounds 5 to 15: Continuing in st st follow chart below.
Rounds 16 to 25: Continue in Main Colour and st st.
Rounds 27 to 30: K1, P1 moss stitch.
Cast off in K1, P1.
Weave in tails.
