14/11/11 - Errata: The PDF has been fixed to correct the thumb gusset placement as well as stitch counts. I’m so sorry for the problem.

I designed this pattern as something simple to make last-minute once the fall weather sets in. The resulting design reminds me of something you would wear to the stable when checking on your horse. The cashmere in the yarn is what adds the “ritzy” detail. They’re very warm and cozy, and since the pattern is pretty quick, they’d make great gifts too.

Note The yarn used for this pattern is what I would call a light worsted weight. I re-knit the pattern using Vanna’s Choice yarn and found that the resulting mitts were a bit larger. I still found the fit overall to be fine, but if you would like your mitts to be smaller and more close-fitting, you could use a light worsted weight yarn. I’ve also had people comment on the length of the mitts being too long on their fingers, and for this you could do less than the 1-inch ribbing called for at the fingers as well as skip the 4 rounds of stockinette stitch on the thumb and just do 4 rounds of ribbing. I hope that this helps! If you have any more questions or find any more errors, please let me know.
