This pattern is for a unisex hooded cowl. Pull up the hood when head warmth is needed and drop it
when not.

A nice, neat cable runs around the edge of the hood opening. Aside from the edges, the hood is all in stockinette stitch. The cowl section features the same cable interspersed with a columnar lace pattern. An optional button
closure secures the hood for more warm snugness, or one or two buttons may be applied for decoration.

The pattern is written in two sizes. The finished dimensions of the hood are similar, while the cowl circumference differs by a couple of inches. For a teen or small adult, or to ensure a snug fit, choose the smaller size. For larger adults or for a looser drape, choose the larger. In either case, the length is easily adjustable.
