Scarecrow of Oz book bookmark
Living in Kansas, I have a friend who grew up on Oz books. I felt like it would be a great series of reading character bookmarks using the pictures as inspiration. Here is my rendition of Dorothy’s friend, the scarecrow.of Oz.
The crochet stitches include, sc, hdc, dc, tr and sl st and front loop and back loop work. The pattern includes description of abbreviations and complete instructions.
It uses small amounts of crochet thread and many colors can be used so it is a great project to use up small amounts of crochet thread (20 yards being the most that is needed).
20 yards natural or new ecru (or choice of skin, cowl and glove color)
13 yards classic blue Hawaii (or choice of shirt color)
17 yards fudge brown (or choice of hat and boot color)
10 yards misty copper (or choice of pants)
4 yards cream or white (or choice of Diploma or “scarecrows’ brain” color)
10 yards goldenrod yellow (or choice of straw and rope)
Small amount red (or choice of mouth, nose & diploma tie color) could also use embroidery floss
Small amount of polyester fiberfill.
Tapestry needle
Washable fabric glue.
Boye Steel Crochet hook size 1 (2.25mm). This is a larger size hook than usually used with thread crochet and makes working with thread crochet easier for those who are not comfortable with thread.
Contact information is on pattern if you have any problems, feedback or just want to show me how beautiful it looks.
