The stranded colour work pattern is inspired by reptilian and piscean scales and worked in the colours of the sea and aquatic wildife, even a mermaid’s shimmering skin.

Construction

Sea Scales pullover is knit top-down and completely seamlessly using the contiguous set in sleeve technique developed by Susie Myers. The back neck stitches are cast on first and increases are made for the shoulders, then the neckline and sleeve caps are all knit “contiguously” top-down in the round. No need for steeking armholes or neckline! Sleeve stitches are held on waste yarn and slipped on to a needle after the body is completed and knit top-down and in the round. The organic, edgy plaid-esque pattern creates vertical striations and shimmering scales of colour that flatter the wearer’s figure. The stranded colourwork is charted and is knit almost entirely in the round. No more than two strands are worked simultaneously. The design includes waist and hip shaping along princess lines for a flattering, feminine, and customisable fit.
