Shady Lady
Contemporary attitude meets old fashioned mystery! Shady Lady looks like she’s about to go out and do some sleuthing on the Streets of Turn of the Century London….or maybe she just likes wearing fedoras!
This is a straightforward, and quite simple, all-over lace pattern, and a great choice for a lighter, airier shawl that can also be worn as a scarf. This is also a one skein wonder, so a great choice for those precious, 400-420 yard skeins that are sitting around waiting to be knit up!
The primary motif is a zig zag pattern that is very easy to work, and quite intuitive. This is what I would call a “rhythm knit” : each row is easily memorized as the entire design is made up of multiples of 3 stitches!
With the exception of the set-up rows, this pattern is charted. You will need to be comfortable with charts and know basic lace stitches : ssk, k2tog, yo, cdd (slip two, k1, passover), and s1k2 (slip one, k2, passover).
ERRATA for the Deco Zig Zag chart, knit rows 1-48 once (not rows 1-50) , then rows 1-26 again (not rows 3-26) ; for Teardrops Band Chart, knit rows 1-16 (not 1-14). Correction made to pdf on Feb. 13, 2012. Dagger Edge chart repeats shaded in pink, changed to six stitch repeat, not five. Correction made to pdf on Feb. 18, 2012.
A BIG thanks to Monika in Austria for translating this pattern into German!
