This is the second journey (pattern) in the Traveling Stitches Sock Club which runs through November of 2024. https://shop.purlkitty.com/b/travelingstitches

The pattern is a tribute to the serene yet dynamic essence of the Pacific Northwest’s rocky coastline, with specific emphasis on the smaller waves, that’s been translated into the texture of the stitch pattern. This design intricately captures the gentle ripples and the soft, rhythmic motion of these waves. One trip to this area is all it takes to make a lasting impression on your soul.

Gauge:
8.25 stitches/per inch using 2.25 mm circular needles

Sizing:
1 (2,3) - which fits a foot circumference of (unstretched) 7.25 inches (8 inches, 8.25 inches) around.

The sample is knit from Tanis Fiber Arts Purple Label Cashmere Sock which is 70% Wool 20% cashmere, and 10% nylon, 400 yards per 115 grams.

Similar yarns can be found here: https://yarnsub.com/yarns/tanis_fiber_arts/purple_label_c...

You can still make it from a sock yarn without cashmere. I think the Desert Vista Dyeworks Zien is very close in terms of weight and gauge, Knit Picks Hawthrone, and Madelinetosh Twist Light would work well too!

Materials:
• US 1 (2.25) circular knitting needles (or size needed to get gauge), I recommend at least 32 inches (my preferred length). You can substitute DPNs and 9-inch circulars for circulars as well and I’ll show you how.
• 100 grams of fingering-weight sock yarn.
• Stitch marker or locking stitch marker (optional)
• Ruler or measuring tape.
• Darning needle.
• Sock blockers to photograph your socks once you’re done! (optional).

Notes:
This pattern is written for magic loop, but can easily be changed to DPNs. Use 2 needles for N1, and another 2 for N2. If you’re using 9-inch circulars, there will be notes throughout to guide you.
