This women’s sweater is begun by casting on stitches for the cabled collar and working the back neck width. Stitches are then picked up along one edge of the collar to begin the body of the sweater. The sweater is then worked from the top down, back and forth, with raglan shaping. The collar is worked contiguously with the body of the sweater. The center back of the sweater is trimmed with cable patterns to match the collar. The bottom hem of the garment is trimmed with garter stitch. The sleeves are knit in the round from the top down, and finished off with a deep mistake-stitch ribbing.

You will need 5 (6, 7, 8, 9, 9) skeins to knit pattern as written. Sample is shown in the 38 1/2” size with 1 1/2” positive ease.

Inspiration: Sigrid, from the Old Norse, meaning “victory”, “wisdom” and “beauty”. Sigrid was often associated in Norse tales with the horse, which was a symbol of fertility to the Vikings, and honored for their place as sturdy fighting companions, war horses were sometimes buried alongside their fallen riders on the battlefield. This sweater incorporates a stylized bit and reins cable pattern, flanked by small repeating horseshoe-shaped cables on each side of the back cable pattern and on the shawl collar.
