Silver Gin Fizz
I really wanted a big, cozy, textured cowl this Winter. I wanted to knit it in a motif that was simple and bold, like garter. And I wanted it in a soft, decadent yarn that would feel great wrapped around my neck.
The mix of merino, silk and yak in Plucky’s Traveler Aran made it the perfect fiber for my vision- soft, cozy and light, with an amazing drape - but big and round in aran weight. Begging to be cowled up.
Instead of working my texture in a simple garter or seed stitch, I found a slipped stitch that really adds to the squishiness of the fabric, bunching things up just so, and giving the cowl a light but thick quality that really works when wrapped around your neck.
I broke the texture up into sections with simple ribs and just worked till the yarn began to run low. It’s an addictive, but super-simple project that looks just a little harder than it is ;)
If necessary, it would be easy to modify this for either length or width by playing with the amount of repeats done.
