Pet Peeve: a skimpy shawl

Skimpy shawls drive me crazy! Beautiful yes, but forever falling off my shoulders and into a puddle or more predictably, my coffee cup. I crave big wrappy shawls that will stay put. When I ordered 2 skeins of Collier and Black’s gorgeous yarn in Candlelight, I went searching for a pattern that would make the most of it.

I couldn’t find exactly what I was after. A simple top down design with rapid increases to make a relatively small amount of yarn into a big wrappy shawl. So I came up with my own.

“Of course I’ve been to close to see! the answers right in front of me!” Jack Skellington

I knit this in both worsted and sport weight, but I’m pretty sure it would work with any weight yarn if you adjust the needle size to get proper drape. I’m going to try it next in some handspun fingerling
