This hat is a slouchy, cabled design, designed to accommodate long hair, very helpful in a rainy climate! The band of ribbing is a fairly loose fit, to avoid messing up makeup. But if worked in a different yarn, it would easily be suitable for a loved one of the non-makeup-wearing persuasion.
The pattern is worked as 3 repeats of a cable pattern, broken up with stockinette, to be worked in the round.

I wrote this pattern for Wharfedale Woolworks Merino Tweed 4 ply. You will require approximately 50g (200m) of a similar weight yarn. Wool (or similar) recommended, for a nice warm hat!
This is a beautiful yarn, which I originally purchased to make socks from, but decided it is far too beautiful to be hidden in my boots!

This is a very detailed pattern, and if you are already comfortable with cables and/or working in the round, you may find it suitable to pick up the other skill!

If you have any questions or corrections, please feel free to get in touch!

A huge thank you to my fantastic test knitter, Mimaro.
Without her eagle-eyes, this pattern would not have been possible!
