This pattern is now free as I’m unable to offer support. I hope you enjoy it.

An elongated shawlette which sits easily on the shoulders, with a simple pattern of snowflakes that descend into a flurry in the border where they become icicles. A quick to make shawl in two sizes, the medium size having a deeper border. It can be made using a mohair and silk blend for a cosy winter accessory or in a smooth silk or wool yarn that would suit either casual or dressier wear.

It is worked top down and is fairly easy to knit, with an easily memorised lace pattern and would suit an adventurous beginner or intermediate knitter.

The detailed instructions (7 pages) are fully written as well as charted throughout, together with instructions for beading for those new to this. There is also a schematic to aid blocking.

It has been fully tech edited and tested.

MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING small (medium):
approx. 59 ”/ 150 cm x 17 ”/ 43 cm ( 69 “ / 175 cm x 24 “ / 61 cm)
using fingering on 3.5mm (# 4) needles.

MATERIALS REQUIRED small (medium):
Fingering weight yarn, approx 380 yd / 348 m - 400 yd/ 366 m.
( 500 yd / 457 m - 520 yd / 476 m.)
Circular Needle: 100cm (40”), 3.5mm (US # 4) or size for gauge.

Beads: 164 (you’ll need 2 x 9-10g tubes). I used size 5 silver lined crystal Miyuki triangles from GJ Beads, but size 6 round Miyuki or Matsuno beads could be used instead.

Crochet hook: 0.75 mm for beading.
2 stitch markers.
Blocking wires and pins.

GAUGE:
23 sts / 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm in stocking stitch, before blocking.
Approx. 20sts / 28 rows = 4’’ / 10 cm in stocking stitch after blocking.
Gauge is not critical and depends on chosen yarn and personal preference, but any difference is likely to affect the finished size. However for those using yarns of 400yd or less, achieving gauge is important or there may be insufficient yarn.

SKILL LEVEL: Advanced beginner - intermediate.

SKILLS REQUIRED: lace knitting (not on WS), lifted increases, centred decreases, beading, blocking. Instructions given for beading & blocking.

This pattern has been fully tested & tech edited.

I’d love to see your progress / finished shawl over in the
